Arttec Signs is honoured to have helped bring the Steadward Legacy Exhibit to life at the Saville Community Sports Centre, celebrating the extraordinary life and impact of Dr. Bob Steadward. This exhibit was designed by local renowned artist, Wei Yew. You can view more of the inspiration and behind the scenes of the exhibit HERE. Installed ahead of the Olympic Games, this permanent display serves as both a tribute and an educational experience, recognizing a man whose work helped shape the global Paralympic movement.

Dr. Steadward’s legacy is deeply woven into sport, education, and advocacy. As a founding president of the International Paralympic Committee and a longtime leader at the University of Alberta, his influence reaches far beyond medals and accolades. The exhibit captures this impact through a rich collection of artifacts, photography, and storytelling that traces his journey, from early involvement in adaptive sport to international leadership and lifelong dedication to inclusion.

Arttec collaborated closely with the project team to fabricate and install the Steadward Paralympic Journey display, a visually striking, museum-quality installation located on the second floor of the Saville Centre. The exhibit features custom wall graphics, large-format photo collages, interpretive panels, and display case graphics that bring together decades of achievements, milestones, and personal moments. Every element was designed to balance clarity, durability, and respect for the historical significance of the material.

From medals and honours to archival imagery and personal memorabilia, the display invites visitors to pause, reflect, and better understand the foundations of Paralympic sport in Canada and around the world. The layered storytelling approach allows the exhibit to resonate with athletes, students, and community members alike, connecting past achievements to ongoing progress in accessibility and inclusion.

It was a privilege for our team to contribute to a project of this significance and to help preserve Dr. Steadward’s story in a space dedicated to sport, community, and movement. The Steadward Legacy Exhibit stands as a lasting reminder of what vision, advocacy, and collaboration can achieve.

Arttec Signs is proud to have completed work on a major new exhibition at the Royal Alberta Museum. Stories of Us: Building Alberta’s Collection explores how Alberta’s history is gathered, interpreted, and shared, inviting visitors to reflect not just on artifacts, but on the stories and choices behind them.

This thoughtfully designed exhibition challenges visitors to consider what is collected, what is overlooked, and why those decisions matter. Through a mix of large-scale wall murals, interpretive graphics, and carefully integrated visual elements, the gallery encourages curiosity and reflection while guiding visitors through the space in a clear, cohesive way.

Arttec supported the exhibition with custom environmental graphics that complement the museum’s curatorial vision. From bold yet restrained wall graphics to clean, readable interpretive panels, every element was designed to enhance storytelling without distracting from the artifacts themselves. The result is a modern, visually engaging environment that supports the exhibition’s themes while maintaining a timeless museum aesthetic.

Projects like Stories of Us highlight the collaborative nature of museum exhibitions. From curators and designers to fabricators and installers, every detail matters. Our team worked closely with the Royal Alberta Museum to ensure precision, durability, and visual clarity, meeting the high standards required for a permanent public institution while respecting the sensitivity of the subject matter.

We’re honoured to see this work featured beyond the museum walls as well. The exhibition, and the process behind it, was recently highlighted in a feature by CBC News, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how Alberta’s stories are thoughtfully collected and presented for future generations.

If you’re curious to learn more about the exhibit and the ideas behind it, we encourage you to watch the CBC News video feature and experience Stories of Us: Building Alberta’s Collection through the lens of those who helped bring it to life.

A Landmark Project Rooted in Durability and Design

Our team at Arttec Signs recently completed a beautiful and functional signage package for Wabamun Waterfront Park, helping enhance both navigation and visitor experience along the lakefront. The project included around ten new signs, all designed to seamlessly blend with the park’s natural beauty while providing clear direction and information for visitors.

Built for Function and Longevity

From entrance monuments to directional panels, every sign at Wabamun Waterfront Park was designed with both strength and style in mind. The main entrance monument, standing roughly 12 feet wide by 6 feet tall, welcomes visitors with bold dimensional lettering and clean lines that reflect the park’s modern identity.

Across the site, the remaining wayfinding and information signs—about ten in total—were constructed using wrapped aluminum panels bent at 90 degrees and paired with durable aluminum posts. This fabrication method ensures each piece is weather-resistant, rust-proof, and capable of withstanding years of exposure to Alberta’s changing seasons.

These signs don’t just direct visitors—they define the experience. Clear mapping, vibrant colours, and legible typography make it easy for guests to navigate the park safely while appreciating the surrounding landscape. At Arttec Signs, we’re proud to create wayfinding systems like this that combine form, function, and endurance to enhance public spaces across the province.

Wayfinding That Works

Wayfinding signage is about more than just directions, it’s about experience. At Arttec Signs, we specialize in creating signage systems that guide visitors intuitively, improve accessibility, and enhance the overall flow of a space.

For a public space like Wabamun Waterfront Park, good wayfinding is essential. Families, tourists, and locals alike can easily find amenities, walking paths, and recreation areas without confusion. The result is a smoother, more enjoyable visit and a stronger connection to the park’s identity.

Our team worked closely with the client to ensure the layout, typography, and colours complemented both the park’s natural surroundings and municipal branding. The clean design, easy readability, and consistent structure make the signage both practical and visually engaging.

Built for the Outdoors

Durability was a top priority for this project. We know Alberta’s weather can be unpredictable, from summer heat to harsh winter winds, so every sign was engineered to withstand the elements. Aluminum panels were the perfect choice: lightweight yet strong, corrosion-resistant, and ideal for outdoor environments.

Each sign’s wrapped surface not only adds visual appeal but provides an extra layer of protection, ensuring vibrant graphics and crisp lettering remain intact for years. When combined with powder-coated aluminum posts, the result is a system that will continue to look as good as it performs.

Turning Spaces Into Experiences

Wayfinding signage does more than point the way, it transforms how people move through and experience a space. At Wabamun Waterfront Park, these signs do just that. They help visitors feel welcome, informed, and confident exploring all that the park has to offer.

For us at Arttec Signs, specialty projects like this are about more than fabrication, they’re about creating lasting value for communities. We take pride in helping municipalities and organizations bring clarity, beauty, and direction to public spaces.

It’s not every day you can take part in a ride that celebrates the playful spirit of Hasbro and brings your childhood favorite to life in such a vibrant, exciting way. With each spin, the magic of Galaxyland becomes even more real, offering a unique adventure for all who dare to board.

2. A Hasbro-Inspired Adventure: Fun for All Ages

Being a Hasbro property, the Barrel of Monkeys ride infuses the world of the beloved toy brand with an undeniable sense of fun and nostalgia. Hasbro has a knack for turning imagination into reality, and this ride is no exception. The creative collaboration with Galaxyland brings a familiar yet thrilling element to the park, appealing to kids, families, and fans of all ages.

The ride’s design is bursting with the playful energy you’d expect from Hasbro, featuring bright colors, interactive elements, and the iconic Barrel of Monkeys characters that will spark memories for visitors. The clever incorporation of Hasbro’s signature charm transforms the ride into a joyful celebration that’s sure to bring smiles to everyone.

3. Innovative Signage: Vibrant Vinyl Wraps in Alberta

As much as the ride itself is an experience, the signage surrounding it is equally impressive. The Barrel of Monkeys ride features some of the most innovative and striking vinyl wraps in Alberta, turning simple signage into a work of art. These full-color, high-quality prints on vinyl bring the fun atmosphere of the ride to life, setting the stage for an unforgettable adventure from the moment visitors step into the area.

The beauty of vinyl wraps lies not only in their vibrant color reproduction but in their durability, ensuring that they maintain their visual appeal even in the high-traffic environment of an amusement park. Printed in full color, the vinyl wraps provide eye-catching visuals that welcome visitors and immerse them in the playful theme of the ride, from the larger-than-life monkey figures to the bold, colorful graphics that span the walls.

4. Custom Signage: Personalizing the Experience

From the moment you enter, the custom signage sets the tone for an adventure that’s uniquely Barrel of Monkeys. The ride features beautifully designed monkey sets, digitally cut to shape with precision. These colorful sets, printed on 6 mm white Dibond material, feature double-sided graphics that make them stand out from all angles.

Each monkey set features three monkeys, designed to create an interactive, dynamic look that truly complements the playful theme of the ride. Ranging in size from one to five monkeys per set, the signage is not just decorative—it’s an essential part of the overall experience. The signs are mounted using French cleats, ensuring they’re securely positioned, providing the perfect view of each cheeky character.

5. Perfectly Fitting Signage: Mastering the Curved Walls

The Barrel of Monkeys ride would not be complete without its awe-inspiring curved walls. To make sure that the signage fits perfectly, custom vinyl wraps were applied to these unique structures with careful attention to every curve. The interior curved wall measures 369” x 49.125” while the exterior curved wall spans 373” x 49.125”. These measurements required expert planning to ensure the vinyl adhered flawlessly, offering a seamless, continuous look.

The clever use of Polar Grip vinyl, a material chosen for its strength and reliability, combined with a matte laminate, provides the perfect finishing touch to the wall wraps. Whether indoors or outdoors, these vinyl wraps not only complement the architecture but add a layer of magic and playfulness that perfectly matches the theme of the ride.

6. The Barrel of Monkeys Logo: A Bold Statement

The main logo sign for the Barrel of Monkeys ride is another key feature that enhances the entire experience. Printed on 3/16″ white Lexan, this eye-catching logo is digitally cut to perfection, with the letters pin-mounted to create a sleek and professional look. Standing at 82” wide by 52” high, the logo dominates the space, ensuring that the attraction is immediately recognizable.

The use of Lexan, a durable material known for its resistance to wear, ensures that this striking logo will remain intact and vibrant for years to come. Its bold, digital-cut lettering captures the spirit of the ride while providing an easy-to-read focal point for guests as they enter the ride area. The colorful, detailed lettering creates an inviting atmosphere, beckoning visitors to experience the fun that lies beyond.

7. A New Era of Fun: Galaxyland’s Barrel of Monkeys Ride

The Barrel of Monkeys ride is not just a thrilling new addition to Galaxyland—it’s a celebration of creativity, playfulness, and fun. The expertly crafted signage, the bold Hasbro-inspired theme, and the exciting ride itself all combine to create an unforgettable experience for visitors. This new chapter in Galaxyland’s history highlights the importance of imaginative design and the magic of bringing a beloved brand to life.
